How To apply for Equipment
The Calgary Flames Sports Bank provides equipment to kids from low income families. Therefore, families must provide adequate documentation. Equipment available is based on items that we currently have in stock. Please call ahead to book an appointment and to check the availability of appropriate gear. Walk in requests for equipment will not be fulfilled. To access the Calgary Flames Sports Bank follow the steps below.

Please fill out the Parent/Guardian Application for Equipment Form and then submit it to admin@flamessportsbank.ca with current (not expired) documentation. Once you submit your documentation, The Calgary Flames Sports Bank will contact you to book an appointment. *Documentation must be approved before an appointment will be made.

We suggest that you apply for KidSport funding up to $500 dollars for the year by using either the online application form at https://kidsportcanada.ca/alberta/calgary/apply-for-a-grant or the fillable application form below and noting your equipment needs. Once you’ve received an approval letter from KidSport please fill out the Parent/Guardian Application for Equipment Form and submit by email to admin@flamessportsbank.ca, by fax at 403-202-1960, or by mail at 3557 52nd Street SE Calgary, AB T2B 3R3.

Equipment Information
Box Lacrosse Player Equipment Guidelines
- Helmet: All helmets MUST be CSA approved for ice hockey or NOCSAE approved. The helmets must have a chin strap and cannot be altered from their original state.
- There are three helmet options for a lacrosse player to use:
- NOCSAE approved field lacrosse helmet.
- CSA approved hockey helmet and CSA approved hockey face mask combo.
- CSA approved hockey helmet and CSA approved lacrosse face mask combo
- Face Mask: The mask must be CSA approved for ice hockey or a NOCSAE approved mask.
- There are currently six CSA approved facemasks for lacrosse:
- Under Armour Model UA V96 (in sizes Jr. and Sr.)
- Under Armour CLA Mask (in sizes Jr. and Sr.)
- Marty O’Neill MX-13 (in sizes Jr. and Sr.)
- OTNY (in sizes Jr. and Sr.)
- Gait G7 (in sizes Jr. and Sr.)
- Warrior Fatboy (in sizes Jr. and Sr.)
- Mouth Guard: Mandatory for Minor Lacrosse and strongly Recommended for Major Lacrosse.
- Shoulder Pads: One piece pad made of flexible durable material when fit properly offers protection for upper body and shoulders.
- Arm Pads/Slash Guards: Lightweight, hard plastic that offers protection for the whole arm, while allowing full range of motion of the arm at the elbow.
- Back & Kidney Pads: A one-piece light weight plastic pad that offers protection for the back and kidney area.
- Gloves: Box lacrosse gloves offer excellent protection and flexibility.
- Short cuff hockey gloves can be used, but they don't offer the same grip or flexibility.
- Lacrosse Stick: Stick Length Pee Wee and down: 34"-46", Bantam +: 40"-46"
- Athletic Support and Cup: Jock or Jill
Box Lacrosse Goalie Equipment
- Helmet: All Helmets MUST be CSA approved for ice hockey or NOCSAE approved. The helmet must have a chin strap and cannot be altered from the manufactured form.
- Face Mask: This must be CSA approved for ice hockey or a NOCSAE approved mask. Model #411Sr. Or #414 Jr. All masks MUST be approved for helmet model that it is mounted on.
- Mouth Guard: Mandatory for Minor Lacrosse and strongly Recommended for Major Lacrosse.
- Throat Guard: Made of hard plastic, attaches to the goalie face shield, protects throat and neck.
- Upper Body Goalie Protector: Floating shoulders for a full range of motion, protection for shoulders, biceps, and forearms. Hard fibre arm guards for maximum protection.
- Gloves: Box lacrosse goalie gloves offer excellent protection and flexibility. Hockey gloves can be used, but they don't offer the same protection, grip, or flexibility.
- Goalie Pants: Snug fitting with waist and thigh protection.
- Goalie Leg Pads: Made of hard plastic allows for a full range of motion, straps to legs, and covers the shin, ankles, and the top of the feet.
